Edmonton Oilers Goalie's Extreme DUI Charge May Have Professional Ramifications

Nikolai Khabibulin, goalie for the Canadian Hockey team the Edmonton Oilers, is facing an extreme DUI charge after an arrest in early February.

While the case is still pending, it is interesting to note that, if he is convicted of DUI, it could have potentially career-changing ramifications.    Canada has the strictest limitations on entry for folks who have a DUI/DWI conviction.   They consider it to be a very serious charge, and foreign visitors are not allowed to enter if they even have a charge pending (Khabibulin is a Russian citizen).  Attempting to enter Canada can be charged as a new criminal violation at the border.

This may present quite a problem for this NHL Goalie recently charged with DWI .
