A Fairfax County police shoulder tap operation resulted in two arrests in Oakton in June. A police cadet dressed in plain clothes approached adults, asking them to buy him alcohol. If they did, a plain clothes officer arrested the adult.

Fairfax County Police issued a press release identifying two men they arrested for allegedly accepting cash from victims who thought they were renting property from the suspects. The men apparently listed properties on Craig's List as available, inexpensive rental properties and accepted cash from a 38 year-old woman, and from an undercover officer. The properties did not belong to the suspects, and, in fact, were in foreclosure.

The driver of an Escalade is facing a DWI charge after crashing into Mt. Pleasant Interim Library last week. The driver was not injured, but the library has structural damage.

A long-time clerk in the Fairfax County Circuit Court was arrested today and charged with four counts of embezzlement by a public official, computer fraud, and forging a public record. The 58 year-old Clifton woman had worked in the clerk's office for 9 years.
Fairfax County Circuit Court Clerk John T. Frey contacted police after his staff notified him of some irregularities with their fee-tracking system. Frey fired the worker, and Fairfax County Police are continuing to investigate. It is not yet known how much money is involved or how long ago the alleged thefts started. - 104 - 110
Maryland's Attorney General announced today that the State will, effectively immediately, recognize gay marriages that were performed in other states, and that married gay couples are entitled to the same rights and benefits as heterosexual married couples.
Maryland does not yet issue marriage licenses for same-sex unions, but will start this spring, joining a handful of other states. - 105 - 110
Amy Locane-Bovenizer, a former Melrose Place actress, was charged with vehicular homicide, as well as 2nd and 3rd degree assault by auto, as a result of a fatal accident Sunday night in New Jersey. The actress allegedly rear-ended a vehicle at an intersection and drove off, knocking over mailboxes before crashing into another vehicle as it was turning into a driveway. The 60 year-old female passenger of that car was killed instantly, and the driver, her husband, also 60, was seriously injured and taken from the scene by helicopter.
Locane-Bovenizer reportedly admitted to police at the scene that she had had "several glasses of wine" before driving.
She faces five to 10 years in state prison.

Robert F. Kennedy's wife, Mary, was charged with DWI after a May 15 incident in which her car jumped a curb near a school. Police said her BAC was .11 (.03 above the legal limit). Her driver's license was suspended, and she is required to undergo an evaluation to determine of she needs alcohol abuse treatment.

Jake Harris has a court date in April, but he will not be charged with DUI or Hit & Run. News reports say there was not enough evidence to support those charges, and, instead, Harris will be charged with Reckless Driving and Driving on a Suspended License.

Nikolai Khabibulin, the goalie for the Edmonton Oilers, was charged with DUI and Speeding in Arizona early last month. According to reports, he was pulled over for driving his Ferrari 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Nikolai Khabibulin, Edmonton Oilers Goalie, who was arrested in Arizona in early February for DUI and Speeding, is now facing the charge of Extreme DUI. Extreme DUI charges are for cases in which the driver's blood alcohol content is greater than 0.15.
