Fairfax County Circuit Court Clerk Charged with Embezzlement

A long-time clerk in the Fairfax County Circuit Court was arrested today and charged with four counts of embezzlement by a public official, computer fraud, and forging a public record.  The 58 year-old Clifton woman had worked in the clerk's office for 9 years.

Fairfax County Circuit Court Clerk John T. Frey contacted police after his staff notified him of some irregularities with their fee-tracking system.  Frey fired the worker, and Fairfax County Police are continuing to investigate.  It is not yet known how much money is involved or how long ago the alleged thefts started.
