Fairfax County Sees Increase in Distracted Driving Summonses
Posted on Nov 17, 2010
Fairfax County report that distracting driving charges have increased 66% compared to the same timeframe in 2008. The charge of failure to pay full time and attention can be issued for many different reasons, including texting, putting on makeup, or even eating while driving - virtually anything that might take the driver's attention away from the road.
Fairfax County Police started an intensive effort in September to educate the public on the dangers of distracted driving and also enforce the law.
People could participate in an online survey, answering questions about their experiences with distracted driving. The results of the distracted driving survey are posted on the FCPD website.
