The family of a 38 year-old North Carolina inmate who died after twice being shot with a taser during an altercation with a guard has filed a lawsuit against the sheriff's department. They allege that deputies used excessive force and did not have adequate medical resources. The sheriff claims that later investigations cleared the deputies of any wrongdoing, although the medical examiner cited shackles as a contributing factor in the inmate's death.
