Substance Abuse Counselor Charged with DUI and Murder

A California substance abuse counselor and former inmate may be headed back to jail after being charged with DUI and murder. The woman struck a pedestrian, who got stuck in her windshield, and kept driving for two more miles until other drivers swarmed her car at a stop light. The woman claimed she was on her way home from work, and that she panicked after hitting the victim. Her BAC was over twice the legal limit. Her criminal record dates back over 20 years, with various burglary and drug convictions. She was trying to turn her life around in recent years by reuniiting with her family, going back to school, and working as an addictions counselor.
