- The Longer You Blow, The Higher You Go. - Tom Workman is a top expert in the field of Breath Testing. Trained in Electrical Engineering, but also a patent attorney himself, Tom has testified in several states as an expert in DUI Breath Test equipment. In his lab in Massachusetts, he has several breath machines and he knows how to take them apart and put them back together. Mr. Workman has testified in Fairfax county for Attorney Paul McGlone, and we would vouch for his expertise in this field. This library item is a very interesting study performed by Tom Workman to see if the BAC levels on a Breath Test machine would vary depending on how much volume of breath was run through the machine. The machine only tests a small portion of the breath that is captured in a "sample chamber", but this study shows that the digital result shown on the machine tends to be higher if the person is required to exhale for a longer time, or, more specifically, for a higher volume of exhaled breath.
